Thoracoscopic Release
What is Thoracoscopic Release?
This approach to surgery allows the surgeon access to the anteior thoracic spine without a large incision. Multiple small skin incisions are made along the side of the chest to allow for the fiber-optic camera and surgical instruments to go to work. Verbtebral disks are removed, bone-graft may be added for spinal fusion and instrumentation may be placed where needed.
It is used to treat scoliosis, spinal displacement, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease
