Anterior Cervical Discectomy
What is Anterior Cervical Discectomy?
This procedure allows the offending disc to be surgically removed. A discectomy is a form of surgical decompression, so the procedure may also be called an anterior cervical decompression as well. Together with a discectomy, the combined surgery is commonly referred to as an ACDF surgery, which stands for Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion and is a very successful form of treatment offered at IPMC.
Typical conditions that may need this treatment are a cervical herniated disc, or a degenerative disc disease.
