What is a Microdiscectomy?
Microdiscectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed on patients with a herniated lumbar disc. In this surgery, a surgeon will remove portions of the herniated disc to relieve pressure on the spinal nerve column, to relieve pain. It is performed by lifting the back muscles from the spine enabling the doctor to move the nerve root gently to the side.
